Locelle Is Douglas Magazine’s “10 To Watch” Winner 2021

On June 5, 2021 Douglas Magazine did a livestream via CHEK News of their “10 To Watch” winners, of new and innovative businesses within Vancouver Island. Locelle was picked as one of the winners and CEO, Humaira Ahmed was also chosen to be on the front cover for the latest special issue!

“It is an incredible honour for us to win the “10 To Watch” award, especially because I’ve lived on Vancouver Island for over 9 years, and each year they are so celebrated. I had hoped to one day be featured amongst incredible entrepreneurs in the community, which is so thriving!”

Each year Douglas Magazine awards 10 new and innovative businesses within the Island, nominated by locals and this year’s panel included representatives from University of Victoria, Royal Roads University School of Business and local business leaders.

My journey was really isolating and I didn’t have easy access to like-minded peers or mentors where we could share, support and get the guidance needed to advance. After I had my two daughters, I really wanted to be part of creating change and equitable workplaces for women. So I launched Locelle, an employer funded platform dedicated to retaining top talent and advancing women through professional development opportunities such as 1:1 tailored mentor-matching.”

Through the support of Locelle’s clients, Metalab, VanHack, Terramera, RingPartner, Codan Communications, StarFish Medical, Schneider Electric, partner Minerva BC, and all of their incredible mentors this amazing opportunity was made possible.
