Locelle Announced As Top 26 for New Ventures BC Competition 2021

As part of the New Ventures BC Competition, 26 startups that show promising innovation development and solutions have been selected to move forward to Round 3, including Locelle! This year has already broken the record for the annual competition, with over 200 initial applications whittled down to 26.

On June 7, NVBC allocated 42 startups to move forward in the competition, with 15 directly proceeding ahead and another 27 chosen to pitch on June 24.

Locelle’s CEO, Humaira Ahmed was one of the pitchers and prepared herself before a panel of 6 judges including executive leaders from e-commerce giant, Shopify and non-profit association, HAVAN.

“We have never made it this far in the competition and so this feels amazing! To battle it out with 25 other companies and make it to the top list is incredible!”

Locelle was founded over 3 years ago and works with various companies in the tech space, such as Metalab and Vanhack.

“We help companies retain their top talent by providing access to 1:1 mentor matching and training. We now work with amazing tech companies, and partner with employers who value gender diverse leadership and the Future of Work.”

Locelle and 10 other companies made it through the pitching stage, along with the 15 that directly proceeded. The competition will lead onto Round 4 which will be taking place in the summer, and the winner is to be announced in autumn.

The NVBC competition presented by Innovate BC takes place annually, to support B.C’s tech industry with cash and prizes to nurture the community, in helping them build sustainable futures for success.
